A typeface ”suited for the future of technology,” Neue Machina takes inspiration from the robotic, machine-like themes that run deep in our rapidly encompassing digital age. The typeface was designed in 2019 by Montreal-based, Mat Desjardins and Valerio Monopoli from Pangram Pangram and last updated in May 2022 to include the Inktrap version. Categorised as a monospace, sans serif display type, it has a robotic, mechanical aesthetic. The Inktrap version incorporates gaps in certain areas of characters, initially designed to prevent pooling ink when printing and improve legibility for small type, now used as a style option to add a bit freshness.
